How do you install LVT Flooring?

LVT Flooring can be fitted either by sticking it down to a flat subfloor or as a floating floor via a click-and-lock method similar to laminate flooring. The most popular fitting method is to install LVT Flooring as a floating floor as the stick-down method requires a higher skill level to get a seamless finish and this is best left to a confident DIYer or professional fitter, this method is fast and d.i.y friendly without the need for any specialist equipment or the stresses that come when using adhesives. As with all flooring, when fitting luxury vinyl flooring as a floating floor the preparation of the subfloor is the key to a great-looking project.

To stop any deviation in the flooring, the subfloor must not exceed 5mm within 10ft/3m radius or unevenness of more than 1mm within 20cm, by simply using a levelling compound such as Larsen SLC 1550, the subfloor can be easily prepared, ready r the installation of the LVT Flooring. Before installing LVT flooring a damp metre should be used to ensure that the level does not exceed 8lb/3.63kg (ASTM F1869) / 90 % RH (ASTM F2170) with a PH limit of 9 / max 2.5 % moisture content (CM method).
